The Office of Student Activities and Leadership is a resource specifically designed to help you make the most of your co-curricular experiences. Developing effective student organizations and leaders through training and education is SAL's primary mission.

GM Sullivan Fellowship

The Sullivan Fellowship Academy is an interactive, experiential seminar series for undergraduates interested in making a positive difference within community, society, and the business world. The Academy will strengthen your understanding of leadership, address social problems in communities, and facilitate positive social change.

The Program

The Sullivan Fellowship Academy will provide a venue to improve students’ leadership skills,
project managment, understanding of coalitions, and goal setting within the Sullivan Principles and Leadership for the Public Good framework. It is a collaboration between The Ross School of Business, College of Engineering, The Office of Student Activities and Leadership, and The Ginsberg Center with grant support from General Motors and United Negro College Fund.

Program Requirements

  • Attend five seminars (see schedule) on topics of Leadership,
    Social Entrepreneurship, Working in the Community,
    Celebrating a Vision, and Reflection
  • Design and implement a “Dream Project” within your
    student organization
  • Utilize C-Tools to communicate ideas, ask questions,
    and seek organizational support
  • Willingness to increase group’s and individual ‘s
    leadership capacity, programming goals, and
    participation in projects for the public good

What is a Social Entrepreneur?

Social entrepreneurs are a new breed of leaders. They combine the resourcefulness of traditional entrepreneurship with a passion to positively impact society. The essence of a social entrepreneur is a commitment to instigate social change by being practical and innovative in the creation of new products, modern services, or novel approaches to address issues of social injustice.

The Application

  • Applications need to be completed by September 28
  • Applicants from a wide array of academic disciplines are desired
  • Members of student organizations are encoraged to apply, since members will be able to develop and work through a group project
